How about modeling a Lightship in cardboard stock....... Yes, even in cardboard. While searching the web for model Lightships, I have found out that yes, they do infact have models that you can build out of a stiff type of cardboard. These only require a sharp knife or scissors, some tape and household glue. Digital Navy has a free, downloadable model of the Lightship Ambrose, which is berthed in New York. |

Both models can be printed on you ink jet printer. Digital Navy has these prints free to download. Just print them out on your printer, paste them to some cardboard stock and start cutting! These are great projects to do on those rainy days, but don't let them fool you, they're still challenging! |

Here's another paper model, this time of the European Lightship "Borkum Riff". Iif you click on the pictures, it will send you to Donald Kenske's Reviews, a website by a gentleman who built both models and wrote a review of the models and how to build them. It also has a link to the website so you can get the model, or you can click below to go directly to Digital Navy. These websites go into detail on what to do and not to do, as well as little things you can do to make yuor model look great. I enjoyed them both so much that I have included them here in the website. Take a few minutes and see for yourself! - webmaster |

Last, but not least........... Here is another paper Lightship I found on Marketplace at SportsLink.com. I do not have much on this model. It is listed as "British Lightship (1952)". It is 1/100th scale and is 16" long. Also a waterline model, cost is .95 |
